An adjective is a word which modifies or describes more information about a noun or pronoun. (Example: The blue bird flew to a large nest in the tree.) Blue describes the bird and large describes the nest. Write the adjectives you find in the following sentences. A, an, and the are called article adjectives and need not be chosen. |

1. The white horse ran over the green grass. |

| 4. We found four books on a high shelf. |
| 5. A wide road was built through the black mud. |
| 6. The fierce wind blew down the tall trees. |
| 7. Bright lights shone through the dark night. |
| 8. The weary man carried a crooked stick. |
| 9. Large cakes of ice filled the cold waters. |
| 10. The house had a red roof, black chimneys, long narrow windows and iron doors. |

11. The hunter carried a sharp knife and a new gun. |
|
12. The savage animals shook the heavy cages. |
|
13. The black car was trimmed with silver stripes. |
|
14. We like cherry pie and fresh doughnuts. |
| 15. Fresh horses were hitched to the huge coach. |
| 16. The clumsy servant spilled the hot soup. |
| 17. We followed a winding road beside a deep lake. |
| 18. Do you read the daily newspaper? |
| 19. The roaring planes landed in the muddy field. |
| 20. The beautiful blue sky was soon covered with flying black clouds. |
| 21. The shallow stream rushed over the smooth rocks. |
| 22. The tire blew out with a loud bang when we ran over the broken bottle. |
