| Brazil is a country
in South America that occupies almost the entire Amazon river basin.
It is the world's fifth biggest country in area and the world's sixth
biggest country in population
with a population of over 174, 000, 000. It is the largest country in
South America and has more people than all the other countries combined.
The flag of Brazil is the flag of a young country. The globe in the center represents the night sky of Rio de Janeiro on the night Brazil became a republic. The motto in the center means "order and progress". Brazil is known as the Federative Republic of Brazil.

| If you lived in Brazil you would probably get your electricity from hydro electric power plants. The Amazon river is the second longest river in the world and supplies Brazil with an enormous resource. This resource is tapped with many dams dotting the river basin. |
