Carlsbad Cavern in New Mexico |
A cave is a natural hole that is large enough for a person to enter. Some say that a cave must have a section of it that does not receive any sunlight. A cave may be in the ground, in a cliff, in a rock shelter or in a sea cliff. Speleology is the exploration and study of caves. In the United States exploring caves for fun is called spelunking. The largest cave is in the state of Kentucky in the United States. It is called Mammoth Cave. |

Batu Caves, Malaysia |
The 3 continents with the most caves are Europe, North America and Asia. The cave to the left is in the country of Malaysia (in Asia). Religious ceremonies occur here. It is an easy cave to visit. All you have to do is walk up many, many flights of stairs to reach the cave. There are many monkeys that yell at you and beg for food as you climb to the cave entrance. Professor Nibble saw a monkey steal an ice cream from a little girl. Boy did she cry. The monkey seemed to enjoy the ice cream cone. |
