is one of Earth's seven main continuous expanses of land.

In the United States and most native English speaking countries, we teach our children that there are 7 continents - North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, Antarctica. Other countries teach different models. |

This model puts North America and South America together. It is called the Americas. With this model you have 6 continents. |

This model puts Europe and Asia together. It is also a 6 continent model. |

Most models calls this area Oceania rather than Australia. It includes a larger area than Australia - look at all the islands that are included in this model. | |

Antarctica |
The cultures of North America and South America are very different. The cultures of Europe and Asia are also very different. I like the 7 continent model. I do think using the name Oceania rather than Australia is a pretty good idea. | |
