In the United States and most native English speaking countries, we teach our children that there are 7 continents - North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, Antarctica. Other countries teach different models. |

This model puts North America and South America together. It is called the Americas. With this model you have 6 continents. |

The cultures of North America and South America are very different. The cultures of Europe and Asia are also very different. I like the 7 continent model. I do think using the name Oceania rather than Australia is a pretty good idea. | |
