A forest is a large area covered mostly with trees and bushes.

In history, forests were set aside for hunting.

There are many different types of trees that grow in a forest. Some loose their leaves in the winter. Others are evergreen. They keep their leaves or needles all year.

Forests do not have to be in the mountains. Florida, parts of Georgia and South Carolina are good examples. The land is flat and sometimes swampy.
