Tidewater glaciers are glaciers that flow
into the sea.

A glacier is a huge sheet of ice that moves slowly across the land.

Every continent on earth has glaciers except for Australia (Oceania).

When you think about all the fresh water on Earth, the glaciers hold more than any other source of water. The only water source larger than the glaciers is the oceans - but that water is saltwater.

There are two main types of glaciers: alpine glaciers, which are found in the mountains, and continental glaciers, which are connected with ice ages and can cover large areas of continents. Antarctica and Greenland are the only places where continental ice sheets exist now.

The amount of ice is so large that if the Greenland ice sheet melted, it would cause sea levels to rise about 20 feet all around the world. If the Antarctic ice sheet melted, sea levels would rise up to 215 feet.
